The other day, Lisa and I were working in the office and we heard Dearth Vader from Star Wars breathing quite loudly. We looked to make sure neither of us were watching some Youtube trash on our laptops. His breathing was coming from outside our window and was punctuated with a gargled voice. Here he is:
Living on a wharf means that there are large piles or pillars that support the structure and some of these piers are still wood for historical reasons and are pounded into the bedrock under the water. In the case of our wharf, the car garage is also under the water line. So occasionally work must be done on parts of these wharfs and there is a diver under water here who is mic’d up so that he can communicate with the folks in the boat what he is seeing or working on. Luke, I am your father and this has a crack in it.
Saving Wildlife from Extinction
Australia being disconnected from other land masses has allowed some creatures to live here undisturbed. By not having natural predators around and ones from neighboring lands haven’t been able to get here, the creatures have lived longer. My first example of this was the infamous Balmain Bug that Lisa and I have eaten on several occasions. See, it looks like something prehistoric:
What the Australian Government has not let the rest of us know is that over the years, they have successfully been able to bring one of the largest flying animals back from the edge of extinction. This massive condor like bird has eggs that are being protected all over Sydney:
