There are a lot of problems with blogging. A lot of folks don’t really know how much work it takes. Whilst in Australia and visiting new Zealand, I didn’t blog, but instead just posted a subset of photos on facebook and wrote captions. It seemed like a fair number of my friends liked this. But the downside is that I don’t really feel ‘in control’ of data a push to facebook and I don’t like that people have to join the site to view the content. And finally, like many of us, when a site or a ‘thing’ gets too successful, we feel it is part of our duty to lessen our use of it. When will the next big thing start?
But I digress, so blogging has the problem of being hard work and the other thing is that if you don’t write it right away, then you may forget it or you may have already written it mentally or physically and then repeat oneself. For example, did I already mention that I was planning to spend the night in Hong Kong and then wake the next morning and catch a flight to Siem Reap, Cambodia (Ed: Dear gentle reader, there will be numerous grammar, spelling and factual errors, Feel free to overlook or feel superior to the writer – whatever floats-your-boat).
I landed in Hong Kong about 7pm on 2/3/2011 and grabbed the appropriate taxi color to be taken to the Novatel Citygate hotel. It is close to the airport and is attached to an outlet mall and lots of residential and commercial buildings. I think when Hong Kong got too crowded, they built this place. Also from here you can catch a train to the city, or Disney Land HK. It is a pretty popular stopping place for people using HK as their gateway city. The hotel is nice, and according to another couple I was with on the free shuttle to the airport the next day, it is a lot cleaner than the airport-based hotels.
I’ve been to HK twice now and both time the haze over the city was thick. The snap above is from my hotel room at dawn. The snap below is the of the plane I’m on to HK (just kidding):
