So here I am sitting in the British Airways ‘special’ lounge in the SFO airport. “How did I get here?” Well, I was able to use miles to boost myself a free business class to Hong Kong and an economy back (due to availability ). Having abused my citi AA mileage credit card for the better part of 15 years left me with around 450,000 miles in my advantage account to use. Whilst I could have flown all the way in a single booking from Austin, Tx to Hong Kong, I prefer to break it up with a stop in San Fran to visit my sister Ki.
This visit was a little different than the usual since she was in process of moving from a rental house that she had been ‘holed up’ in for a couple years and into a nice condo on a slough that leads to the San Fran bay. My other sister, Dory, god bless her, flew in a couple of days before me to assist in the packing and the moving. I still got the chance to vacuum, pull down and put up drapes and rods, move boxes, etc, blah, etc, rinse, repeat.
Flight was is 11:50am and we left her new pad at 10:27am, so it felt real tight, but alas business class to the rescue, business class at the ticket counter, business class to go through security, a 20 minute flight delay, and here is where I am, sitting in the British Airways lounge drinking OJ, pocketing fig newtons. and debating if I should have a cocktail. Do two glasses of OJ offset an imported beer before noon?
Here is a snap of what Cathy’s new Business Class looks like. I was on their older one, but it still have lay down seating that could handle someone well over 6 foot; me being a tough 5’ 8” had plenty of head space.
