If ‘travel is the only thing you do in life that makes your richer’, how do you downsize from a 700 sq ft shack on Austin’s eastside…
to a <100 sq foot Class B Camper Van to experience more of what our amazing country has to offer?
After living on the North Shore of Hawaii for a couple of years, I never dreamed we would be living in a 700 sq ft shack occupied by raccoons for the past 3 years. Yes, we’ve been traveling part of the time but now that I am finished with the first phase of my Yoga Therapy Training, we may be willing to give up our cute little ‘love shack’ for a very slick, compact and comfortable Travato 59k while we build a new house in Austin. This could be a one year adventure! or a nightmare on the horizon.
For the past few months Douglas has been doing extensive research on Rv’s and we had decided that an Airstream was the best fit for our lifestyle. We even fell in love with an older slide-out model with shag carpet and made a solid offer that was promptly rejected! Douglas will talk about how we decided to go with the 2018 59k Travato in a future post, but the bottom line is we both fell in love with this decked out class B van. Basically we were driving home from Gulf Shores, Alabama to celebrate my Mom’s 80th B-Day, #Nonniesbeachbash and after being evacuated for hurricane Nate, we stopped in Katy, Tx. Camperworld https://rv.campingworld.com/dealer/houston-texas-katy to see what they had in stock. They had a lovely granite 2018 58K with bike racks and a ladder and something about it just felt right.
Last week Douglas flew into Houston and picked up our new Traveler Blues campervan! Last night we did an overnight camp-out in the backyard to make sure everything worked as expected. I texted my children about our camp out and they did not understand why we would be camping out in our backyard! lol. The BBQ was delicious, the beds were comfy and the company divine. I guess we will be doing a maiden voyage in mid-November leaving out of Charlotte, NC after visiting with Douglas’ Mom and sister, then heading to the Outerbanks, Charleston, Savannah, Florida Panhandle, Biloxi, MS., New Orleans ( to visit my parents) and then Houston for Thanksgiving with family. Laissez les bons temps rouler ! We hope to see you on the road…
