Smiling at me
Nothing but blue skies
Do I see- Blue Skies
There is nothing like a Carolina Blue sky to make you feel happy to be alive.
Douglas moved from Orlando to North Carolina 20+ years ago but had only visited a Carolina beach once. So when Lisa chose Hilton Head Island, he was more than game. For some reason, Hilton Head has always seemed like a blue-hair destination. As soon as our destination was finalized, Lisa had scoured the area for Bikram Yoga studios and campgrounds with a good restaurant.
We stayed at Hilton Head Harbor RV Resort & Marina www.hiltonheadharbor.com where we learned two valuable things: 1) The famous Sunset Cafe located there is not owned by the RV park and it isn’t open on Mondays. 2) All of the spaces in this park are individually owned, so some owners spend a touch more money on their lots than others might. This is a posh sort of place with yachts on the marina, a hot tub, 2 pools, and a highly rated restaurant on the water. Overall the place seemed more like a planned community than a RV park. Our cute little Travato was surrounded by a few million dollar ‘rock-star’ rigs some of them permanently docked since each spot is privately owned.
While Lisa did yoga, Douglas did a bit of exploring across the island. We had lunch at the highly rated Low Country Backyard restaurant, Douglas had the burger, Lisa had the shrimp salad and we got the tangy key lime pie to go! Then we were off for a bike ride on the hard-packed, wide beach. Douglas pontificated about the value of wide smooth Atlantic Ocean beaches and reminisced about the time he spent in Daytona, etc…
Later, we loaded our bikes on the TravelerBlues Camper and took the backroads to Savannah.
